CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR PLAYHOUSE EDUCATION AND STORAGE ANNEX

February 7, 2022

Whew! It’s been a while since August 2019 when we purchased a new facility with an unbeknownst pandemic ahead…but we are STILL STANDING! We made it over the half-way hump with a purchase of $360,000 and having paid off about $200,000! Incredible, considering that we have barely been in our little theatre the past couple of years. SO, we have roughly $160,000 to go. This year we are asking you to donate towards this campaign in honor of our longevity, having been an organization for 45 years and founded in 1977 by Richard Valentine and a group of brave theatre enthusiasts. Be a STAR and celebrate our 45th ANNIVERSARY. Your star donation will go towards the NEW Education and Storage space on Arcadia Circle in Murray. Your STAR donation puts your name on a star that will hang in the Playhouse lobby throughout 2022, recognizing you as one of our stars as we continue to celebrate for many more years all that is COMMUNITY and THEATRE at Playhouse in the Park.

Attention Playhouse friends! We are chipping away at our capital campaign goal to pay for the purchase of our annex space for Playhouse in the Park. Kevin Swartz and Barry Wilson put this together for your consideration.

JULY 9, 2020 update

We are "half way there" to paying off the loan on the annex building that we purchased in August of 2019 for storage, education, and events. In less than a year we managed to cover HALF of the purchasing price. However, we are currently "livin' on a prayer". We hope that you would be willing to help us pay for the rest so that we can put our energy back in to programming our future. Playhouse annually serves 2,000+ kids, 5,000+ adults, and has been a non-profit, community supported organization for 43 years. We hope to be here for another 40+! Please consider a donation in one of the following ways:

  • via website DONATE button, be sure to mention "Annex"

  • check written to "Playhouse in the Park" (memo: "Annex")

  • consider a matching funds challenge to encourage others to donate

  • divide donation into payments over 2-5 years

  • start a Facebook fundraiser on your birthday, or anytime

  • ask about naming rights in the new space or other incentives

It all started when…

we lost our storage space, downtown, to a fire. We lost 35+ years of costumes and props; we were devastated (to say the least). Since, we have been storage room “surfing” around Murray, thanks to some very generous individuals. We finally landed in a space that felt like it should be our own, AND it happened to be for sale. SO, here we are! The real estate was up for grabs and we needed to make a quick decision to make it ours, so our board unanimously voted YES to purchase the 907 Arcadia property. Our longevity and connection with the community gives us hope that you will help us with the acquisition of this space! We want to continue to entertain in our own beloved Playhouse in the Park, but definitely need additional room for workshops, auditions, rehearsal space and storage. We intend to continue to provide these lifelong opportunities for kids in the community of all ages! We are so excited to have a contract in the works for Playhouse’s education, events, and (much needed) storage space! We would appreciate any financial support you are able to contribute. There are a variety of ways possible listed here. Please let us know how you are able to contribute and your contact information. The Murray Bank has been generous enough to manage deposits towards this campaign, if you would like to click the link here or above to learn more about that process.
